Portrait: Johanna S. BillingsJohanna S. Billings has been shooting seriously for about five years. Her photos have appeared in books, magazines and newspapers. She is the winner of several national awards in photography from the National Federation of Press Women, the first one being a photo of a horse-drawn antique hearse at the funeral of Dakota Galusha, a 12-year-old boy killed in a freak accident in front of Northampton Area Middle School during morning arrival. This photo appears on the home page of this site. Her photo "Don't Mess With Me" won first place in the immatures category in the North American Butterfly Association contest. She has also been a finalist twice in the Life in the Valley photo contest.

Billings is the author of two books on antique glass for which she did the majority of the photography as well as the writing. She is currently working on a book titled "Light Up the Night Sky: The Legacy of Dakota Galusha."
